Timetables

Pedestrians, Cyclists and Scooters

Survey data has shown that parallel parking in Hastings Street can affect the flow of traffic through to Noosa Woods as well as impact on the function of the Hastings Street roundabout. Part of the Go Noosa trials includes the temporary replacement of eight parallel car parks to widen the footpath for pedestrians as well as provide additional scooter and bicycle parking.

The additional temporary scooter and bicycle parking will be located in the middle of Hastings Street opposite Ripcurl, QuickSilver and Seed.

A trial of prioritising pedestrian movements by providing:

  • temporary wayfinding signage to direct people to the beach and other attractions.
  • assistance to pedestrians by traffic controllers.

Car Parking

Roadside information

High resolution video message boards will trial the use of new technology developed specifically for the "Go Noosa" trials to provide drivers with information on car parking availability in the Hastings Street precinct before they get into the congested area. Motorists can then make an informed decision about driving into the precinct or parking in Noosa Junction and catching a free bus or walking over the hill.

Lions Park

Nosoa Heads Lions Park will temporarily be converted to a paid car park at a flat rate of $20 per day from 9am to 6pm on the following days:

  • Wednesday, 26 December 2018 up to and including Sunday, 13 January 2019.
  • Weekends:  15 & 16 December, 22 & 23 December, 19 & 20 January and 26, 27 & 28 December, 2019.

The car park does not operate if the grounds are wet, this is to reduce damage to the park.

The funds from paid parking contributes to "Go Noosa" initiatives including the provision of selected free buses through the Shire. The Noosa-Tewantin Lions Club manage the car park on behalf of Noosa Council receiving a percentage of the revenue which is used to support their charitable works.

Rideshare App

In collaboration with the Hastings Street Association, Council is trialling the use of a Rideshare App for selected Hastings Street employees. The Ride Share App allows Hastings Street staff to carpool to the busy precinct reducing the number of individuals needing to drive and park in the local area. Larger establishments in Hastings Street will support the App by providing “carpool only” parking bays. Council will also assist by dedicating 5 “carpool only” bays at the Noosa Heads Lions Park car park and 5 “carpool only” bays in the Woods car park.
